Miss Angela Andrew
Camp’s Goodmother
Angela Andrew est une artiste-praticienne de Londres, au Royaume-Uni.
Elle a débuté son histoire de danseuse avec la première génération de danseurs de hip-hop dans les rues de Hackney où elle est née et a grandi. Elle a commencé le Lindy Hop en 1991. Au moment où Angela a commencé à enseigner cette danse, elle avait déjà un parcours d’enseignement bien établi, travaillant dans des écoles, des collèges, d’autres institutions et des festivals.
Le travail artistique d’Angela est varié et novateur. Pendant un peu plus de six ans, Angela a travaillé comme directrice artistique d’une association de danse à Lyon, où le Lindy Hop est arrivé en France. Sa mission consistait à relancer la scène et à tisser des liens solides entre les diverses organisations musicales et les disciplines de la danse à Lyon et dans toute la France ; un objectif qu’elle a énergiquement atteint.
Angela continues to share her knowledge in and out of the Lindy Hop sphere. She accomplishes this with her Mentorship Program (working with many of the leading artists and academics across the AAV Jazz discipline), teaching at Performing Arts institutes such as LAMDA. Working for years advising organizers and artists alike, she has proven to be an authoritative voice of the profession. She has her finger on the pulse of current developments and is well versed in the inter-generational conversations currently being had.
She created the hashtag #sankofaswing to encourage mindful transmission of Lindy Hop and its derivatives.
Angela is a member at Chisenhale Dance Space. Her last work Radical Integration was performed there and supported by CDS and Choreographers Gallery.

Direction
A Lindy hopper since 2011, Leti is passionate about African American Vernacular Jazz and the stories and life stories that surround the dance. The importance of sharing, the sense of community and the idea of exchanging are at the heart of her approach.
Currently Leti teaches Lindy Hop and Vernacular Jazz regularly in Montpellier and as a guest teacher in events abroad.
Leti also leads an academic career, and currently dedicates her research to exploring and understanding the way Jazz dances are perceived in France, and their place within cultural policies.

Fernando est contrebassiste et leader du septet Carolina Reapers, spécialisé dans le répertoire dansant des années 1940.
Lindy Hoper since 2011, he contributes locally to sharing his passion for this dance within the Montpellier association Montpeul’ Swing, as well as as a guest speaker by other associations or festivals.
PhD in musicology, he aims to awaken an interest in Swing music among the Lindy Hopers, by promoting a better knowledge of the repertoire and the actors of this art form.

Sarah discovered Swing in the middle of the South-African desert, in June 2019.
De retour à Montpellier, elle se lance dans une pratique régulière, et est vite prise par la folie furieuse typique des débutants de swing ! Elle rencontre aussi d’autres fous et passionnés, dont Leti et Fer, et commence alors à collaborer avec musicien.ne.s, danseuses et danseurs dans la production de leur projets.
She also like being on her bike, making movies, naps and drink a good coffee, but not everything at the same time.

Charles est né de parents musiciens, Jazz d’un côté et chanson française de l’autre, ce qui lui a naturellement donné envie de faire de la musique, dont il a aujourd’hui fait sa profession avec sa contrebasse, sa guitare et sa voix.
He tried Lindy Hop in 2017 after seeing dancers during a trip to New Orleans. Since then, he has been passionately practicing this dance, enjoying especially the Jazz Solo.
Having spent all his childhood and adolescence 7 kilometers from Anduze, the choice to be part of the AJDC team was self-evident!
